AppreCIATIVE ADVISING |

Appreciative Advising is the intentional collaborative practice of asking positive, open-ended questions that help students optimize their educational experiences and achieve their dreams, goals, and potentials. It is perhaps the best example of a fully student-centered approach to student development.

Think about it: Whenever you meet someone for the first time, the interaction is never neutral; it will be either negative or positive in nature. In other words, the first question you ask is fateful for both the relationship you have with the student and the relationship the student has with the institution. Further, individuals tend to grow in the direction of the questions they regularly are asked and ask themselves.

The Institute for Appreciative Advising can show you how your use of language and the questions you ask students can promote their personal and academic success in ways that you may have not realized were possible. |
